Miss one bowl (2016)

catshggfg;ui.jpg

"Miss One Bowl" (2016) continues from "Wisdom Seed Storage" (2015) by exploring elements that have disappeared or fallen out of use in rural areas. This work focuses on a traditional rice mill, which had a simple and uncomplicated mechanism. It was newly crafted in a smaller size and was functional. This small rice mill can process just enough rice for one pot, sufficient for a single household.

This piece marks the beginning of incorporating video techniques to document the process of milling and cooking rice, illustrating the relationships and familiarities associated with the rice mill in my own home. It reflects a sense of nostalgia for the daily life context of rural areas and the close connection to rice, in many aspects, of rural living.
